Stavros’ first feature, the multi-award winning Shirley Adams (2009), was screened, in competition, at several international film festivals, including Toronto, Locarno, Rotterdam and London. Winner of three 2010 South African Film and Television awards, including best feature, the film was also nominated for the 2010 Ingmar Bergman International Debut Award, and the Sutherland Trophy. Ray Bennett at the Hollywood Reporter called it an “outstanding portrait of a mother…a penetrating study in fortitude and optimism in the face of desperate odds.”

An alumni of the 2010 Berlin Film Festival Talent Campus, Stavros was invited to the Working Title Films Residency at the 2010 Hay Festival, and was recently selected to the attend the prestigious Binger Film Lab, in Amsterdam, where he will be developing his feature project ‘The First Cypriot Astronaut’. He has several projects in development, including the Cold-War submarine Thriller ‘Bleak Sea’ (Cimini Films), winner of the 2010 Trailermade competition.

A life-long heavy metal fan, Stavros is a regular contributor to TERRORIZER, the worlds leading extreme music magazine.
